This week in maths, Year 6 have been developing their fraction addition skills. We followed our learning journey and built up our understanding step by step 🚗🛣️.
We learned how to add proper fractions and mixed numbers, starting with the same denominators and then moving on to different denominators. We practised finding common denominators and deciding whether our answers stayed within the whole or went beyond the whole ➗🧠. As the week went on, we challenged ourselves by adding mixed numbers where the fractions crossed the whole, making sure our final answers were written correctly as mixed numbers ✏️⭐.
The children worked hard, showed great resilience, and are becoming much more confident with fractions. Well done, Year 6! 😊👏
