We have had a very busy and successful week in class, with lots of fantastic learning across all subjects. The children have worked extremely hard and should feel proud of their achievements!

✏️ English

In English this week, we focused on developing our descriptive writing skills. The children explored how to make their writing more interesting and engaging by using fronted adverbials. They applied this learning to create exciting descriptions of jungles and volcanoes, thinking carefully about powerful vocabulary, expanded sentences, and vivid imagery to help bring their writing to life. We were very impressed with the creativity and effort shown by everyone.

🔢 Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about formal addition. The class practised lining up digits carefully in the correct columns and used re-grouping (carrying) when needed. We focused on working methodically and checking our answers to build confidence and accuracy. Many pupils showed great perseverance when tackling more challenging calculations.

🌎 Geography

Our Geography learning took us to South America, where we explored the River Amazon. We discussed its importance as one of the largest rivers in the world and how it supports a wide range of wildlife and communities. The children learned about the surrounding rainforest, the animals that depend on the river, and why this environment is so important to our planet.

⚔️ History

In History, we continued learning about the Vikings. We discovered how they were skilled sailors who used impressive longships to travel across seas and rivers. The class explored where the Vikings travelled and how their journeys helped them trade, explore new lands, and shape history.

🎨 Art

In Art this week, we weren’t afraid to get messy! The children created their very own papyrus paper, exploring traditional techniques inspired by ancient civilisations. They enjoyed the hands-on process and learned how materials can be transformed to create unique pieces of artwork.

🏃 PE

In PE, we developed our fitness skills through a range of energetic activities. The children practised skipping, climbing, step-ups, sit-ups, and took on the challenge of completing lots of jumping jacks! Everyone showed determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards improving their fitness.

⭐ Overall, it has been a fantastic week full of learning, creativity, and effort. Well done to everyone for working so hard!
