What a fantastic start to the term we have had in Year 3! 😊

Everyone has come back ready to learn and try their very best.

βž• Maths

This week in Maths we have been focusing on subtraction, especially double exchanging. We used dienes to help support our understanding and to physically see how numbers change when we exchange. The children worked really hard to explain their reasoning and show each step clearly. Great resilience shown!

✏️ English

In English, we have been working on using subordinate clauses to improve our sentences and make them more interesting. We have also been creating high-level vocabulary to “magpie” and use in our writing. It has been wonderful to see the children challenging themselves to uplevel their work! πŸ–ŠοΈ

 Science

In Science, we explored friction and learned how it can change the speed of objects. We carried out a fun experiment using cars and ramps covered in different surfaces to see which created the most friction. πŸš— The children made careful observations and loved seeing the results in action!

 imaginative sentences.

🎨 Art

In Art, we studied an Anglo-Saxon shoulder clasp and practised drawing our own versions. We noticed the detailed patterns and how they were often symmetrical. The children showed fantastic attention to detail in their designs.

πŸ™ Religious Education

In RE, we explored what it means to be a saint. We studied Mother Teresa and learned how she dedicated her life to helping the sick, homeless and poor. The children had thoughtful discussions about kindness, service and compassion.

It has truly been a brilliant first week back — we are so proud of all the hard work and positive attitudes shown by Year 3! πŸŒˆπŸ‘
