This week as part of our topic work, we have begun our focus on heroes and adventures and looked at Valentina Tereshkova and adventures into space.

We have been reusing plastic bottles to make rockets.  We decorated the bottle and planned carefully how we would like to decorate our rockets and what material we could use to attach it together.  We learnt about all of the different parts of a rocket and then blasted them off to see how far they could fly.  Thank you to everyone who brought bottles in for us to use.

We used our fingers to mark make in galaxy sand and drew pictures relating to space of rockets, planets, shooting stars and aliens.

In our creative area we have been using chalk to create space pictures.  We looked closely at pictures of the galaxy to see what colours we should use and then drew our picture using different methods with the chalk.

Our book of the week has been Hello Mr Moon.  The book talks about the different stages of the moon each month and how its shape appears to change.

The children enjoyed the storm this week and learnt how thunder and lightning is made.  They have since been very busy exploring the puddles and mud that has been left, making mud pies in the mud kitchen, writing our names in mud and splashing in puddles.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
